Workshops
Papunya Tjupi holds regular workshops to
- Develop artist skills
- Diversify our product range
- Encourage relationships and affiliations with people outside the community
They are also a great opportunity for artists to gather and work together.
Printmaking Workshops
Since its inception, Papunya Tjupi Arts has had an ongoing program of print making and workshops, with the assistance of Master Printmaker, Michael Kempson of Cicada Press who states "Trust and respect between artist and printer are essential ingredients for successful printmaking collaboration. These values underpin COFA's ongoing relationship with the Papunya Tjupi artists"
There have been four productive printmaking workshops. The first workshop was a lino-printing workshop conducted by CoFA graduate students at Papunya over ten days in May 2007. More than thirty members of the Papunya artistic community, ranging from upper secondary students to septuagenarians created more than 200 lino prints. The second workshop involved the eight artists who travelled to Sydney for the exhibition opening. It was conducted at Cicada Press, CoFA and led by Cicada’s Director Michael Kempson. A number of the works produced were included in several exhibitions in 2008.
Papunya Tjupi prints made at Cicada Press have been included in the following exhibitions:

Basket Weaving Workshop
This is a new part of the Papunya Tjupi Art Centre. We instigated a workshop with one of the Youth workers from last year, Kath Schlyder, who happen to tell us that she knew how to make baskets from raffia. So we organized a couple of afternoons of basket weaving to get people started. Now we have a regular stream of baskets coming into the art centre.

Jewellery Workshops
At the end of 2007, whilst doing the printmaking workshop in Papunya, Kasumi ran a jewellery workshop at Papunya School for one afternoon. Jewellery making is a regular feature of the art centre, where it provides an alternative to painting. The seeds used in the making of the jewellery are ininti (a local tree) and gum nuts.
